Ceramic and Porcelain Tile Installation in Baltimore and Maryland
Porcelain and ceramic floor tile for kitchens, baths, mudrooms and entries, set level and grouted clean.
Who it suits
Tile is the floor for the rooms that get wet and dirty: kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and front entries. Carpets Etc. installs porcelain and ceramic in everything from classic 12×12 to large-format planks that look like wood or stone, with the matching bullnose and trim pieces to finish edges and stairs.
Porcelain is denser and more water-resistant than ceramic, which makes it the better pick for showers and exterior-adjacent floors; ceramic costs less and is perfect for a backsplash or a half bath. We’ll walk you through both in the showroom.
A tile floor is only as good as what’s under it. We check deflection and flatness, lay cement board or an uncoupling membrane where it’s needed, and set every tile with a leveling system so there are no lippage edges to catch a toe.
Questions Maryland homeowners ask us
Porcelain or ceramic?
Porcelain for floors, showers and heavy traffic; ceramic for walls, backsplashes and light-use rooms.
Can you tile over my old floor?
Over sound existing tile or concrete, usually yes with the right membrane; over wood subfloor we add cement board first.
How long before I can use the room?
Walk on it in 24 hours; grout fully cures in about 72.
